(CNN) — Curtis Fuller wasn’t having the greatest luck before he won a $1 million prize in the Florida Lottery.
“My wife’s car broke down a few days ago and two days after that my truck broke down,” said the Jacksonville man in a news release from the Florida Lottery.
Fuller, 38, bought the 50X THE CASH ticket — a $5 scratch-off game — at a convenience store in Jacksonville.
He claimed the prize on Monday at lottery headquarters in Tallahassee, according to the release.
Fuller decided to get his winnings as a one-time, lump sum payment of $890,000, the release said.
He told lottery officials that he and his wife will use the money to buy a new house and purchase two new vehicles.
Fuller might not be the only big winner this week.
The MegaMillions lottery jackpot has grown to an estimated $515 million ahead of Friday night’s drawing.

I love it when money goes to people who need it. I hope they are smart and buy decent cars, a decent house, and out the rest away.
We have the beginnings of a C&W song there.
Now see, I did the opposite. I saved the $5.00 on the scratch off and topped off my oil.
My car should be good for at least another 2000 miles.
Didn’t have a pot to pee in but he bought at least one lottery ticket. That mil will be gone in no time.
I’m left wondering how much money he gave to the state of Florida over the years.
Probably not $900,000 but certainly enough that if he had saved it instead of buying lottery tickets, he’d have been further ahead.
You can’t count on winning one of those things ever.
Divorce
the obligatory mansion
the new vehicle customized with a lot of bling
the continuing processions of call girls
the filing for bankruptcy
the begging the original wife to 'come baaaaaack' to me
Not that I'm cynical or anything....
I do believe you’ll be proven right. I sure hope his homies don’t show up at his residence unannounced at 3am.
My wife is visiting friends for a couple of days. Before she left, she found 3 old Powerball tickets in her purse. I said I’d check them, and if I wasn’t here when she got back, she’d know that one of the tickets was a big winner. (Of course they were all worthless.)
Lol
I can’t get to read that article because it immediately turns into an ad for banner health.😡
How did he get from Jacksonville to Tallahassee without a running car or truck?
Good for him, but $890,000 ain’t exactly generational-changing wealth..hope he buys a modest home and vehicles, continues working, and has a good financial advisor.

My money says it will be gone in 6 months.
Any takers?

$900k is quite a bit short for a mansion.
And if the divorce comes first it might only be $450k. Barely enough for a suburban tract home these days.
Good for them!
Possibly, but at least he'd no longer have a house payment or vehicle payments.
(I hope he realizes that new house is REALLY gonna cost him EVERY year in property taxes!) I hope he saves enough that INTEREST can pay them.)
