The Chicago Teachers Union is a collection of ultra-left wing mopes; their darling, Toni Preckwinkle, was Lightfoot’s main competition in the mayoral election, and the CTU has never gotten over its loss in that vote. It’s tough to say which would be a worse mayor (though Groot sets an awfully low bar), but so far as the CTU is concerned, it doesn’t matter - they’d have an even cushier racket going with Preckwinkle in charge, and hence they’ll knife Lightfoot every chance they get. And right now is as good a time as any.
