Nyiragongo volcano eruption in Congo, Africa (May 23, 2021). Mount Nyiragongo: Lava destroys houses after DR Congo volcano erupts. After a large volcano erupted in the Democratic Republic of Congo, footage shows lava on nearby streets, houses on fire and a thick orange cloud over the eastern city of Goma. Thousands of people have fled their homes after fountains of lava burst from the Mount Nyiragongo.
After crossing a major highway, the lava advanced toward Goma, a city of two million people which was devastated by the last eruption, in 2002, when boiling lava smothered entire neighborhoods, killed several hundred people and left at least 100,000 homeless.
I wonder if insurance companies would even touch a structure in a town built on a prior lava flow next to an active volcano.
Can you imagine the premiums?
“Gosh honey, I mean moving and living at the foothills of an active volcano, what could go wrong! Queue Yellowstone!
I don’t think they’d touch it. Of course, maybe they could file for a pre-existing condition rider.
In the fwiw department, Elvis Bishop rocks.

How much of a city where is this? I suspect that the lava it was an improvement over the neighborhood that was there.
We are 400 miles NW of the big Yellowstone caldera. Did we move too close?
I used to love Lava soap, but switched to “Goop” hand cleaner, then changed again to the Gojo creamy stuff with pumice. It’s the same gritty stuff that’s in Lava soap. There was nothing like grabbing a scoop of “Goop” into your greasy hands after working on the car.
Still, the “Lava” name is the coolest ever. Dial Soap should have grabbed the name years ago and made it a soap for men. Men scrubbing down with “Lava” would be a sure-fire hit. Of course, you’d have to take the pumice out first.

Maybe this is just nature’s dry run for targets like NYC, DC, LA, & SF?
Uhhh yes!
I like that map. TN and NC are one state.
Actually, the word “lava” is taken from the Spanish. It means “to clean”, or some such similar.
Then marketing came up with the image.
