OAKLAND — Netflix founder and co-CEO Reed Hastings is spending $3 million to shield Gov. Gavin Newsom from a recall vote in a demonstration of the enormous sums Newsom's allies could marshal in his defense, according to a state filing today.
The massive outlay makes Hastings by far the largest donor to Newsom's recall campaign. Under California rules, Newsom can raise unlimited sums to fend off a recall effort that will likely land before voters in the fall, while other gubernatorial candidates are subject to campaign limits of $32,400 per election in their direct accounts. That's because the law treats Newsom's fight against the recall as a ballot issue rather than a candidacy.

Please pray for God to work a miracle. CA whole situation can be likened to Ezekiel’s valley of dry bones.
The last recall didn’t work out so well. Why bother if you’re not going to do it right.
Anyone on this forum still subscribing to Netflix?
Confess, sinner.
Wouldn’t this ba waste of money? Everyone knows the guy and his policies. They’ve seen his work... They gathered up the signatures for the recall. The right leaning and pissed of center lefties won’t believe any oppo BS smear commercials of his opponents. Why give?
Yes. Cancelling today.
If Bruce Jenner is the candidate against Newsome, CA is getting Newsome again
Another Commie bastard.
“Wouldn’t this be a waste of money?”
I believe he is buying gratitude and access. Politians can never have enough money.
Good. Thanks, every bit will help financially destroy them. Their services are no longer needed.
well there goes any support that I was BARELY giving Netflix anyway.
Well ....
Aside from Looney Tune leftists sticking together, Newsom has been instrumental in crippling both the theatrical film industry and U.S.-based film production. Netflix is the industry leader in streaming, so sabotaging theatrical movies plays into its hands. Netflix also wants to be the cinematic Walmart to the world. It is a global platform chasing generic global customers. It is buying huge numbers of foreign films and is trying to nudge U.S. audiences into embracing foreign cinema with subtitles. Netflix is just as happy as Walmart, Nike or Apple to have its product churned out in third world sweatshops. It is selling subscriptions, not movies, and it views content as filler, the production of which can be outsourced to the lowest available foreign vendor.
There is no reason Netflix should have a problem with Newsom. Traditional movie studios and the theater chains might differ, though they are probably too much party-lining NPC’s to take a stand.
You could not pay me to watch Netflix.
The wealth of the sinner is laid up for the righteous.
