Perhaps a bit of a slide, but I was looking at some Ronaldus Magnus videos and came across the famous “I’m paying for this microphone!” moment. From 1980...over forty years ago, and can I get a “yikes!” from y’all?
When Reagan let out with righteous indignation, the crowd goes nutso in support. At about the 1:03 mark, attending dignitaries are seen behind Ronny clapping enthusiastically save for one: it appears to me a younger GHWB is seen at the lower right hand corner of the screen sitting listless on his voodoo economic ass with little expression on his face.
Just to the left of Bush can be seen a younger Bob Dole standing, applauding and looking down at Bush with a “what’s the matter with you?” look.
Very telling. Betting Reagan wanted to strangle the DS’er more than once.

thanx for that. I remember that. Thye wanted to exclude all but Reagan-Bush in the debate.
Reagan thought it was wrong, Reagan paid for the debate so all the contenders could be in it.
Bush was advised not to be in the debate if all the rest were there.
