Yep. I’m a boat person...own one...and watched a documentary on this many years ago.

I like the craft, however, I don’t see how it’s characteristics could have prevented the Cole disaster.

I’m guessing they are looking at the intercept capability in a small-crew warship to prevent the boat-bomb from fully closing.

The vessel is also said to have a very small radar signature owing to its incorporation of advanced technologies and physical form.

Way cool... fly-ash rules... Iranians drool... are these the "UFO's" we've been seeing recently?

I’m glad it’s on our side for now.

Sorta terrifies me at the prospect of devices like this trickling down to agencies like DOJ. Automated judge, jury and executioner that never needs to sleep or question.

We don’t even have to wait for Skynet, FedGov will be as bad if not worse.

I’m having this crazy thought that is an amalgam of a James Bond movie and the movie Pentagon Wars ... you know, some Admiral sitting in a design review, saying “what if we made it submersible?” Now I’m not saying make it a submarine but can you imagine this thing off the coast of Somalia, rising up from the sea amidst a swarm of pirate boats that are attacking a commercial vessel? I want the movie rights!

They already do that in CG fantasy movies.

The “considerable maint support” is the killer.

A PHM was dead simple: foils in the water. Hull techs could fix them.

These super-cavitating SWATH boats would be great in a James Bond movie, on camera for a week, and they might work along the American coasts, where having 1 out of 5 in operation would be okay.

Send them to the PG, they’ll be very impressive for weeks to months, then they’ll have to be hauled back to the USA for deep service.

The Cole boat bomb was not on a high-speed run. It was just a “Whaler” type O/B motorboat that just loitered up to the Cole pretending to be trying to sell fresh fruit and veggies.

Using the Cole to sell this super-cavitating SWATH is a non-sequitor.

Which makes me think that all the “UFO’s” are ours. Experimental craft that test our cutting edge technologies

I agree 100%. The following from the article kinda proves it.........

Under a shroud of secrecy (in part demanded by the U.S. Navy), Sancoff began nighttime field trials of the predecessors to the "Ghost"

I don't think anyone can comprehend what the govt. military establishment is doing under secrecy in the background..Especially in terms of aeronautics...........

I think Gar Wood(RIP), would approve of this design!

The new design was clearly taken from Star Trek.

I believe after reading the article, there is enough information there to get our enemies to start working on this type of a craft. -Tom
