I can see Kirstie one day making a decision to run for office. Politics is often seen as a viable second or late career once actors age out of the best Hollywood roles.
Sometimes, it works out well. See Reagan and Trump as two examples.

I never liked Shelley Long but I love watching Frasier reruns, more so than when it originally aired.
On Cheers I did like Kirstie more than Diane, for sure.
