A group of five rural Oregon counties is considering seceding from the state to escape Democrat control and, instead, join neighboring Republican-led Idaho. The cluster of counties voted on Tuesday to consider plans to break away from the Beaver State.

Good luck to them in getting the legislature to approve.
Hope they do it but its old news.
Sadly, OR’s leadership isn’t smart enough to see that people are fed up with the Leftists “no protection, no prosecution” style of governance.
They should just do it. Start sending their tax remittances to Boise.
“Dear Legislatures,
We’d like to amicably separate. Are you good with that?
Your move.
Sincerely,
< 5 repressed counties >”
It’s a nice idea, especially if you make the incorrect assumption that what the mass emigration of liberal scum from California did to places like Oregon, Colorado, Arizona, Nevada and Texas (will be flipping from true blue to Commie red very soon) among others, etc. can’t possibly ever happen to Idaho or Montana or Utah or....
You can run — and maybe have a few years of happiness in your new location — but bad people always drive out the good, eventually. It’s an immutable law of demographics. For example look at any once-upon-a-time nice suburb of any major city which had the misfortune to be situated too close to an urban cesspool.... and then look at it now.
Commie run criminal organizations, in this case the state of Oregon, is just like Hotel California.

Will the new “State” be called Ore-Ida?
Hey, McQ444, check out this thread:
Dear FRiends, Our FReepathon is lagging behind and we need your help to get caught up. [Thread XLIX]

Oh, right, you don’t read posts. You’re a spammer!
I so hope that they somehow pull that off....but I just dont see it happening. Seems it would be an unprecedented feat...and who knows how many others would follow suit. Nope. I’ll take that bet...but keep my fingers crossed that they do it and at minimum generate a ton of national awareness on how many people with functioning brains/consciences are disgusted with the liberal left/communist/globalist style of government.
Interesting geography.
Oregon and California would no longer touch and Idaho would have a west coast.
Well that would be nice but even with the “state of Jefferson(NorCal)” joining in, not likely. Would be nice to visit the Idaho coast. :-}
One little known fact is that Idaho already has a seaport in Lewiston. The Columbia River is, by law, a commercial waterway which cannot be controlled by a single state.
Let me be the first to say, well played sir, well played.
That’s not even the biggest hurdle. They would have to get the US Congress, under Democrat control, to approve it.
Get real. Where I am in AZ, it would take 120 years to ever become as bad as it was when I was in CA. You need to get out more.
By the sound of your post, you must be in one miserable leftist area.
One more thing, where I am in AZ, some of the most conservative leaning people are from CA. Like me for example.
