ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Fully vaccinated people no longer have to wear masks, but some people are still choosing to wear one in public places which has caused some uncomfortable situations. At the beginning of the pandemic, people were shamed for wearing masks, now the tables seem to have turned and when people aren’t wearing a mask they get some looks.
“Most people have them, and then there are some without them, and those people kind of just stand out,” said Andres Ramirez, a customer at Walmart.
As more New Mexicans continue to get vaccinated, many people KRQE News 13 saw grocery shopping throughout the metro Monday were still masked up. With grocery stores like Smith’s and Lowes Neighborhood Market on 12th and Lomas still requiring people to wear masks at all times.
That isn’t the policy at Walmart which allows customers to go maskless if they’re fully vaccinated. KRQE News 13 crews saw most of the people in the store were wearing masks and it was just a couple of people not wearing masks getting some strange looks.
One man said he’s fully vaccinated and feels comfortable living life without a mask.
“Well, it’s a relief, it really is a relief, it’s like when I was able to throw my neckties away because I didn’t have to have neckties,” said Loren Dunbar, who was shopping at Walmart. “It just felt good, one less thing.”
Other shoppers say they’re fully vaccinated and said they’ll probably continue to wear masks for the next few weeks until they feel more comfortable to take them off. Many of them said they don’t trust the honor system, having to believe whether people are actually vaccinated.

Isn’t that why the masks are blue?
Masking was always unnecessary beyond the first month of the unknown and in the super red zones of the nursing homes and hospitals. It’s the symbol of control otherwise. Going outside even after mask mandate lifted, I see just as many as ever. A good portion of the population is warped.
If they are vaccinated, what are they worried about?
Why is it relevant that someone else may not be?
Don’t they trust the vaccine? Don’t they think it’s going to work?
An article of clothing?
Since when?
Masks have never been considered an article of clothing here in the US or most of the world.
You wouldn't be muslim by any chance, would you?

Perhaps a Communist Chinese sympathizer? Only country that wore the mask religiously pre-covid was Communist China (primarily due to all the air pollution there)
There were about ten poll workers with no masks and they were all smiles.
Then went to Sam's Club, again, more mask-less, smiling faces and later to several other stores and the same story, many happy people.
Western PA resident are, by and large, ready to stop this craziness.
There are going to be karens and chads wearing face masks for the rest of their days, and they will be scowling under them.
I did not get a single cross word yesterday, but I was open carrying, except at the poll {a school}.
Never put on a mask. Never gotten that dangerous vaccine, and I am a heck of a lot healthier than most in my age group who have.
This entire mask nonsense is completely psychological.
It awards power, authority and control to people who haven’t earned it, and who are most likely to become corrupted by it.
Similar to the rabid tobaccophobic karen who marches across a street to yell at the person lighting a cigarette that the smoke is, “Bothering her.”
“Don’t they trust the vaccine? Don’t they think it’s going to work?”
Evidently not. People got it for the same reason they wear masks and for the same reason people bought hula hoops and pet rocks back in the day (jmo).
Let them. I don’t care if someone else chooses to wear a mask.. that’s their right.... just don’t tell me I have to.
your entire retarded point is based on what an “article of clothing” is.
pass.
this country is so damned dumb and soft that we can’t tell the difference between an annoying inconvenience and tyranny.
I think that for many, masking is just a habit ... a dirty, dehumanizing bad habit that, as with many bad habits including unhealthy habits such as mask-wearing, will take time, courage and confidence to break. Over time, maskers will be treated as they should ... with pity for being so afraid and ignorant.
You’re the one who referred to masks as *articles of clothing*.
Backatcha.
It is an article of clothing.
Wearing a mask after you have been vaxxed just shows the world you don’t think the vaccine works.
Re: 15 - Why are you so triggered that you can’t accept the fact that some people may continue to wear masks?
And the same goes for people who do wear masks. Why are you so triggered by people who don’t wear masks?
I have a very close relative who wants to keep her mask not because of covid. But because she us painfully introverted and she likes the anonymity she feels it gives her. I hate that. But at least not a democrat. Laf. I am Trying to help her with feeling more confident and secure.
And happy. Prayers for her always 🙏 ❤.
It disgusts me. I can live with others’ stupidity, but I don’t have to enjoy it. A bit like the extremely obese wearing spandex.
it is stupid. it’s deeply disappointing stupidity on a national scale.
but I’m not ready to divide the nation into two new countries over people who CHOOSE to continue to wear a mask, and people that do not.
we do totally agree on fatties wearing spandex.
And the same goes for people who do wear masks. Why are you so triggered by people who don’t wear masks?
