Groups Call for Reintroduction of Jaguars in US Southwest

Environmental groups and scientists with two universities want U.S. wildlife managers to consider reintroducing jaguars to the American Southwest.

In a recently published paper, they say habitat destruction, highways and existing segments of the border wall mean that natural reestablishment of the large cats north of the U.S.-Mexico boundary would be unlikely over the next century without human intervention.

Jaguars are currently found in 19 countries, but biologists have said the animals have lost more than half of their historic range from South and Central America into the southwestern United States largely due to hunting and habitat loss.

I did that 4 years ago.

He grabbed the rope, pulled the hook and pulley setup out of the tree trunk and broke the feeder I’d bought for my mom.

It was 13 feet up and it still didn’t matter.

She hasn’t fed the birds for 2 years now as it’s too much trouble to keep fixing it so often.

I totally support the reintroduction of dangerous carnivores. There should be a few reasonable conditions though. They should only be released on liberal campuses and Statehouses where the legislators have voted to reintroduce. The release areas should be fenced so nothing can get in or out. Jaguars, cougars grizzly’s and wolves would be fine. Oh, and these should also be gun free zones. Wouldn’t want to scare the poor things.

He’s crossed the line from nuisance to entertainment, then. Booby trap time. I had a dog that kept coming in under the fence. Set snares so that after he got in he had a string of tin cans chasing him. Tree limbs can be used for spring loaded triggers. I’d set a goal of getting its tongue in a rat trap. Maybe set it on a free hole at the limit of his ability to reach, baited with a baggie of honey or jelly.

Since she stopped feeding the birds it has not been back.

If it comes here, it will be dealt with.

Wishing the so-called “environmentalists” could become extinct. They never seem to know when to leave well enough alone, do they?
