I’ve never known a livestock farmer who didn’t keep and encourage barn cats.
There is a semi industry re adopting barn cats. A neighbor to the south of us and one to the north both ordered/bought barn cats to minimize the rat problem. We all live on the edge of civilization and semi wilderness.
The cats work mainly at night, and with the exception of a small invasion rat year have been successful for all of us in the area.
They have been too successful re the wild rabbits and baby quail.
You win some, you lose some.
