running rigging
Rigging used to manipulate sails, spars, etc. in order to control the movement of the ship.

I appreciate your nautical posts as I am quite ignorant on such things.
Have you ever read ‘The Compass’ by Alan Gurney? It was a bit dry, but I learned a lot from it. Just thought that I would mention it.

I would like to thank you for your “Know your Nautical terminology” posts. I am nowhere near water and have never owned a boat, but it does not lessen my enjoyment in reading about the terminology.
