This looks like an ACTUAL “near miss”.

Usually they call it a “near miss” when they totally miss each other and merely come close.
If they totally collide and disappear in a ball of flame, I guess that’s a “hit”.

Two planes with some damage that both land safely? That’s what a “near miss” really looks like.
