Last summer, we saw a 225% increase in new cases during the summer (low of 21,572 June 9th moving avg to high of 70,357 July 19th). Deaths trail cases, so the low there was July 5th (moving average of 518) and the high was 1,182 August 1st.

Yes, it’s seasonal, but not the same way that Influenza is. Seasonal flu drops to single-digit cases in the summer and stays that way all summer long. COVID-19 is definitely worse in the winter, but it doesn’t disappear in the summer.

Last summer was an anomaly because the first time some regions were exposed to the virus was in the summer. Even so, the curve is practically the same as seasonal flu.
