Looking up, there was no flu vaccine really developed until 1938. They were trying, created something, did not worked, it was not used.
Nobody got it!
Blaming the dead’s for faulty vaccine is total Bull.
People died of the flu, not of the vaccine!
Why?
Because nobody got any vaccine to speak about!
There were no vaccines to speak about in 1918! Only Smallpox, cholera, plague, rabies.
But the horrendous toll of the flu spurred the vaccination efforts. Sort of like last year. It only took them 20 years then.
They were using masks then though! With similar results.

"The serum offers the only remedy," he asserted, "and we are taking advantage of it."[47] Local politicians as well as medical authorities, unsure of the pathology of influenza, grasped at straws during the fall and winter of 1918 and 1919 and they embraced almost any measure that instilled hope of curbing death rates.
