Vandenberg Air Force Base is getting a new name.
A ceremony on Friday will redesignate the base near Lompoc and the 30th Space Wing as Vandenberg Space Force Base and Space Launch Delta 30, under Space Operations Command, United States Space Force, according to base officials.
The new organization will allow squadron commanders to report directly to the SLD 30 commander, which the base says will create more efficiency.
Signs with the bases updated name were installed Saturday but are currently covered up.
Some wag oughta paint an “N” and an “S” on the ends of that arch...
Ahhh...his name is still going to be on the base.
You didn’t even need to read the source article.
FR minimum effort.
It’s STILL going to be Vandenburg. For God’s sake...does no one READ anymore?
I thought that with Trump gone, the whole Space Force thing would just go into the circular file and NASA would just go back to cream and apples and let Musk do all the work.
Maybe Angela Davis AFB or Benadine Dorhn AFB?
Biden Admin will refuse to use that name. Maybe Space Swishers?
Renaming the base for more efficiency.
Freaking amazing what our mediots are letting their admirals and generals get by with.

BLM AFB? Why the hell not?
How about “Black Lives Matter AFB” or “Social Justice AFB?”
Donald John Trump Space Force Base?
Bureaucrats having their morning orgasm...

US Space Force and US Space Command were created by law.
Duh, Sherlock.
Dont know lol.
You posted it, I figgered you might...
Ping.
Or George Floyd AFB, or Trayvon Martin AFB. Maybe we shouldn’t even joke about it. Some ass hat 🎩 in government, probably would like to do exactly that.
Yes, RB, I know how you are using it. I was in the USAF for 20 years and my son is a USAF pilot. I went to boot camp at Lackland AFB, Tx. we called it Lackland. I was at Laughlin AFB, Tx, We called it Laughlin. I was at Travis AFB, Ca, we called at Travis. We usually left off the AFB part, simply to cut down on verbiage. That was the only reason. It doesn’t matter whether it is called Vandenberg Air Force Base, or Vandenberg Space Force Base. Almost no one is going to say all those words. They will simply say Vandenberg, to shorten it, like we did since the 60s.
