Her deck doesn't look exactly pristine to begin with. We often have trouble with woodpeckers and squirrels that actually make holes in your walls, and a huge mess when they actually get into your house. Water and a brush would clean that woman's deck up and then she should put some stain on it before it rots away.
We used to ride our tandem bicycles on a trail where there were Bald Eagles. Once on a downhill section of the trail a big one swooped in and grabbed the light I had mounted on my helmet with its talons. My wife watched in disbelief from the rear position. If my chin strap hadn't been fastened it would have flown off with my helmet.
Sort of like bald eagle, actually.
Doesnt even really qualify as that. Have a dozen wild turkeys come sit on the rack on top your truck one night.
The problem is when it catches one. Messy, need to clean the dog, maybe hurt by big bird, bird parts all over that you need to collect and dispose of.
Di-hydrous is a good solution and cheaper than vet bills.
Good grief. Spray the damn birds with water using a common garden hose with a pressure nozzle.
They wouldn’t even land with a dog on the deck. They’d move in quickly to some other house.
Wow. That’s a great story.
“Nick, you always find the BEST stuff! You are a real treasure here on FR. You’re almost your own “News of the Weird,” but not really creepy weird stuff. Just a bit unusual and offbeat.”
I concur 100%, Nick. Keep them coming.
Shoot, shovel, and shut up. When these bords land on your property the government will seize it.
The little light was the same size and shaped a bit like a mouse.
They are not filthy, no more than your trash man...they clean up filth that otherwise would harbor maggots and flies and disease.
They perform a valuable service.
Something attracted them to the lady’s house...maybe the police should check her freezer for a missing boyfriend.
Did they fly in with carrion baggage?
Buzzards
If she would just let them come into her house,
her deck would be fine.
If the dog were already there sitting on the deck I agree.
Setup a sprinkler and splash them.
I watched two huge buzzards picking away at a dead woodchuck or something. They suddenly hopped/flew 20 feet away. A little hawk landed on the woodchuck and pecked away for a bit then flew up onto the power pole.
The three of them kept this up for I don’t know how long. After about the sixth time I got bored and left.
Anyway - maybe some fake hawks?
A water pistol or a vuvuzela should do the trick.
