When I was younger used to ride my bicycles all over the place. Your sense of balance is so much better when younger. Now at 64 not so much plus riding the streets with cars around not so keen for seniors. Better to ride along park trails away from vehicle traffic dangers.
I wonder if Helmut was wearing a helmut.
Sorry to hear about your Dad.
I believe he designed Liberty Place in Philly back in the 1980s. I rode the train to work in the city back then with a lot of the ironworkers working that project. Those were good times back then..Reagan in office, the city was doing well..and I had a job I loved (in Defense)
Diese sind keine shon. Not very pretty looking buildings.
Very sorry for your loss & Happy Mothers Day to your mom.
Your story about your dad sounds a lot like my mom. She fell last year & didn’t break anything but at 78, she was still driving, active in the house/yard etc..
But after the fall, lost a lot weight, muscle tone & hasn’t been the same since...both physically & mentally.
She’s had three MRIs but they don’t see any Alzheimer’s/dementia.
Frustrating because they keep asking what he baseline was before fall, she was an active 78 year old!
My last great stunt on a bicycle was riding down the biggest hill in Eugene, OR. Took a while to figure le the timing of the light at the bottom.
As a cyclist I agree with you, sadly. It is something I often complain about in our bike club but the majority of cyclists think the sooner they are out of traffic, the better. However that is not the law, and we see here the consequences.
As an 80 year old daily bike rider, I find comments trying to be funny are anything but.
A broken or seriously damaged hip is for some reason the worst thing that can happen to an elderly person, and I think the average life expectancy after the incident is under a year. No idea why.
But it sounds like he had a good life, and I hope your mom is doing well.
Jahn Helmut Did not design those buildings he designed very pretty impressive structures and was a hell of an architect and it’s not funny that he’s dead free pairs are such assholes they just cannot help themselves it’s absolutely the worst part of this forum I cannot stand it so creepers act like empathy cost so much to their precious egos
Ask yourself then how many people here when you watch how they talk about things like this would you actually want to know off this forum
So many freepers exist on this forum simply to scold and be cute they don’t offer modules
This is the boys
Can’t blame the cat ladies
Prayers to his family...
I tracked down that picture and it is listed as taken in 1975 of East Berlin apartments (notice the picture of Erich Honecker in the foreground.
I doubt that a German-American architect who started major designs in 1974 designed a pre-1975 East Berlin apartment complex.
One of the best things I've heard about Communist era eastern European architecture was about the Warsaw Palace of Culture. The best view of the skyline was from the top of the Palace of Culture because you couldn't see it when standing on top of it.
It’s Chicago. Was he wearing a mask?
Far too many bicyclists think traffic laws don't apply to them and blow through stop signs. If he had an equipment failure or a moment of inattention, then I pity him. On the other hand if he is one of the bicyclists who regularly ignore stop signs and pedestrian right-of-way then my pity goes way down.
You can ignore traffic laws a hundred times, but then the laws of physics catch up with you - and physics' penalties are a lot greater than a $50 fine.
I look at those buildings and I can only think “now is the time on Sprockets, when we dance!”
Shamwow guy said the Germans make good stuff. That is terrible German stuff, right there.
“As an 80 year old daily bike rider, I find comments trying to be funny are anything but.”
I agree with you on that one. I gave up riding my bicycle and my BMW motorcycle a few years ago, I drive my F-150 everywhere I go. Here in Bernalillo County, NM driving anything smaller is a death sentence.
RIP.
