2 rules a Hunter has to have ingrained into his brain
1). Never point the rifle at something. you do not intend to kill
2). Identify your target, before you pull the trigger
It’s not rocket science. I don’t care if the victim was dressed like a turkey, and was making sounds like a turkey - the HUNTER has he deadly weapon, the HUNTER aimed a deadly weapon at the target, and the HUNTER pulled the trigger, without identifying what the hell he was shooting.
Just a hair’s breadth away from pre-meditated murder, lacking only motive.
A point well made. I’ve hunted turkey in Missouri. If an idiot in MO “ and it has it’s share” does this, it ain’t an accident, it’s murder by idiot.
Maybe add————
Be sure you know who’s coming into your yard before you shoot them.
Amazingly, Benjamin Franklin tried to get the American Turkey selected as the national bird but he was overruled and they chose the American Eagle. Just missed a lot of punchlines with that one.
FYI, Turkey hunters use shotguns not rifles. And, broad clear trails are super highways for wildlife.
