The Latest Round of Attacks on Ron DeSantis Have Gone From 'Desperate to Weird'
Townhall ^ | 9 May, 2021 | Katie Pavlich

The attacks on Florida Republican Governor Ron DeSantis have been unrelenting in recent months as his decisions on how to handle the Wuhan coronavirus pandemic have been vindicated by science and economic data in the state.

As opponents of DeSantis, for his 2022 gubernatorial run and an inevitable 2024 presidential campaign, fail to come up with real arguments that stick, they're digging to the bottom of the barrel in hopes of finding something that works to slow his political momentum.

The most recent attempt comes from Vanity Fair, which wrote a hit piece about "luring DeSantis to meetings with cupcakes."

According to the ex-aides, DeSantis can be so distant from his staff that they apparently took to tricking him into attending meetings by telling him it’s someone’s birthday and putting out cupcakes. “Loyalty and trust, that is not a currency he deals in,” one former staffer told the outlet. “It’s him and Casey. But everyone else is like a disposable piece of garbage.”

Last week POLITICO ran a piece accusing DeSantis of, gasp, listening to his wife.

We talked to a dozen or so onetime aides and consultants to the Florida governor, and they all said the same thing: DeSantis treats staff like expendable widgets. He largely relies on a brain trust of two: himself and his wife, CASEY DESANTIS, a former local TV journalist. Beyond that there are few, if any, “DeSantis people,” as far as political pros are concerned.

Could those be the same "political pros" who said DeSantis, not to mention President Donald Trump, could never win?

Ron DeSantis is the go-to guy should Donald Trump choose NOT to run in 2024. But never bet against the alpha male in the room.

Just be sure that if you WANT to be the alpha male, it might be wise to find a room of your own first.

Cruise ships are privately owned fleets.

They use DeSantis as a propaganda whipping post, because they know very well they can install their own Vax requirements for boarding.

Sounds of a publicity stunt for slandering Freedom and freedom loving governors.

I still don’t know enough about DeSantis to make any final decisions, but there’s plenty of time. Meanwhile, if Trump wants the nomination in 2024, he will have my vote.

I admit, where federal law is already in place that addresses specific issues, as the Civil Rights Law is, your example takes precident over mine.

However, so far, even OBiden and even Coumo say they cannot force the depopulation Vax, because it is an “emergency use only” concoction.

Also, only on Federal property can OBIDEN force masks.

Your post is not supported by any facts on the ground. You are merely making stuff up.

If it came down to a two way race between DeSantis and Trump, I would choose DeSantis. Any day. Donald Trump gave himself too many self-inflicted wounds which the Democrats took advantage of. And which led to his defeat.

Trump REALLY, REALLY could have used a politically savvy person between his fingers and the computer keyboard. I wonder how many people begged to help him. He may have suffered from “rich genius syndrome”...whereas he was very good at making money, so he thought that should also be very good at anything and everything else. Gates and Zuckerburg also have this problem.

I just hope those “facts on the ground” don’t appear at a later date.

Why would he trust the people around him? He learned from Trump’s mistakes. Good for him.

I’m sure Trump is advising him. Maybe Trump will be DeSantis’ “consigliere”.

“Also DeSantis “lifting restrictions” does not in any way lift mask orders that stores in Florida from Walmart on down impose on their customers.”

The Florida law passed for July 1 does.

Seems maybe you are doping a hit piece on DeSantis.

I live in the Kansas City metro and we have been set free for about a week now, but Walmart Still requires masks to avoid the spread of “cooties”.

So, don’t feel left out.

“So there you have it. DeSantis overruled by Walmart Corporate in orders sent to all Florida stores.”

Why do you leave out mentioning the Florida law that goes into effect July 1 that DeSantis signed?

You’d have to be an idiot to not know a governor’s executive orders only apply to State employees and not corporations, so I can only assume you are trying to make negative statements against Governor DeSantis.

It is time the GOP fought back.

What, you think that they already are?

How many Dem politicians have (a) been prosecuted? (b) been convicted? (c) been fined or imprisoned?

How many 'journalists' have been ditto?

It is time folks to take the fight discussion into leftist territory... and win.

Attack Discuss with the teacher unions and the bureaucrats, occupy their time, push them back. Put them on defence.

And I could go on, and on, and on.

Every republican office holder is always under constant attack by the fake media...

The more popular, the higher they charge for their drivel, buttwipe, hit piece journalism.

It’s all anonymous sources now, and forever more!

Your explanation reminds us all that politicians can only be symbolic on tough issues.

When the Birmingham Civil Rights conflict between Bull Connor and Martin Luther King emerged in May of 1963, JFK could only issue executive orders to deal with discrimination to respond to public opinion.

Those orders to end racial discrimination only applied to the federal government.

DeSantis is doing nothing different here just using limited power he chooses to use.

Its the “Conservative Media” that exaggerates the real meaning of his actions misleading millions.
