"Why Don't You Get a Job?" is a song by American rock band the Offspring. The single peaked within the top 10 of the charts in several countries, including reaching number two in the United Kingdom, Australia, Iceland, and Sweden.
The song drew attention for its close similarity to the song "Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da", as multiple music writers pointed out that the melody and rhythm sounded much like the Beatles' 1968 release.
The music video was shot on the backlot of Universal Studios Hollywood. Several TV and movie set locations can be seen throughout the video, including Colonial Street (which was used as Wisteria Lane in Desperate Housewives) and Courthouse Square from the Back to the Future trilogy. The video features the four members of the band walking through these locations while a steadily growing crowd follows them.
Bob Eubanks, the host of the Newlywed Game, makes a cameo appearance.

Always have enjoyed that song, yeah Obladi-ish, but yah, Music.
Should find more air time in today’s market.
Dexter Holland, The Offspring’s lead singer, has a Ph.D in molecular biology.
Man, I love The Offspring! I needed this today.
Along with George Thorogood’s Get a Haircut and Get a Real Job
No Georgia,
No Peach.....
Holland also owns the ‘Gringo Bandito’ brand of hot sauce. It tastes good and is only medium hot, meaning you can pour a lot of it on bland food without burning your mouth up.
“Dexter Holland, The Offspring’s lead singer, has a Ph.D in molecular biology.”
He’s more of a scientist than that left-wing creep, Bill Nye The Science Guy.
Obladi oblida.
These guy rip off a lot.
One of the most underrated bands of the 90s. Dexter Holland, one of their founders and their lead singer, graduated from USC with a Ph.D in Molecular Biology.
The Beatles apparently borrowed it as well, from a Jamaican act. Probably why there was no attempt to do anything.
Likewise Brian May of Queen. Ph.D in astrophysics. His bandmate Roger Taylor has a B.S. in Biology. And Bruce Dickinson of Iron Maiden is an airline pilot rated to fly everything up to a 757. Duff McKagan of Guns-N’Roses - B.A. in Business. Gene Simmons of KISS - B.A. in Education, former elementary school teacher.
Yeah. But quite different.
McCartney got the phrase but the song is not the same.

And their best "rip off" is "feelings", an ingenious flip from love to hate. Americana was a great album.
