Even if you were genuinely convinced that COVID-19 is statistically dangerous for children and that forcing them to wear face masks actually stopped or curbed its spread, the sight of kids in masks should be heartbreaking to you and something you'd want to see gone as quickly as possible.
So imagine what those of us who know the truth, and the utter futility of it all, feel. Countless children are suffering needlessly, and in too many places school boards and health departments continue to ignore that suffering - and the science - in the name of their newfound false face mask god.
As virus rates continue to decline and vaccination rates, especially among the elderly, continue to rise, our overlords continue to double down on the forcible masking of children. Is there something they know that we don't, or are they just doubling down on stupid for no good reason?
In case there was still any question, a prominent 'Team Reality' Twitter account who goes by the Twitter name "Omnipotent Moral Busybody" and describes himself as "one of the few remaining politically neutral social scientists" unleashed a thread for the ages on Friday that utterly demolishes the concept of masking children.
"Masking children to reduce the spread of Covid-19 is not backed by research or data," Busybody wrote. "It is a policy that should stop immediately."

I suppose you are a supporter of Tucker Carlson and his crusade to deprive American parents of the liberty to mask their children or not as they see fit by getting the CPS involved. Anti-maskers are no more pro-liberty than pro-maskers, they're just less honest about it.

survive and outperform these kids academically
all while wearing masks that allegedly hinder academic achievement?
For that matter however did kids survive Halloween and WWII without a simpering actor telling them what to do? How do landscapers, nail salon workers, and surgeons wear masks for hours on end and still do their jobs? When something that humans have done just fine for generations is suddenly deemed a problem my BS detector goes off.
You know, in the US school is 8 hours, max, each day; about a work day for an average adult. In Japan in particular, the school doesn’t always break for summer, and kids routinely spend 10+ hours in school. They clean, cook, and partake in extracurriculars when learning is over. It’s a dawn-til-dusk thing over there.
Recently, Japan has seen problems with the infantilization of their 35 and under populace. They don’t date, have sex, and don’t plan on it, let alone marriage and family. Perhaps that’s part of the cost of that rigorous routine which is school over there that is nearly adulthood. Altbough, it’s no secret that my generation is less flexible than its predecessors, even over there.

Common sense says if it ain't broke don't fix it. People, including children, have been wearing masks throughout history and seemed to have survived okay.
