I saw a documentary about Angor Wat on Nat Geo or a similar channel. They had an amazing system of water works to support agriculture allowing such a staggering population.

This estimate would mean Angor could have been the biggest cities in the world rivaling cities in China.

The city was also highly developed technologically. Even photography had been developed, hence this photo of the city's last mayor as a young man.
