Do you think 7 is pretty safe even though Microsoft dropped support?
I still use Win7 on both laptop and desktop. I will continue until the machines die. I have Win10 on a tablet and hate it.
I have another laptop and have been using Linux Mint Cinnamon -- just upgraded to 20.1. I am liking it more and more.
I do tend to visit the same set of websites and have never had a problem with security issues.

I got my system tri-booted so that I can use W7, W10 and Linux Mint. I like it, and I use W7 and Linux quite often. I still prefer W7 above all else. W10 keeps getting worse and worse. They tried to forcibly update me to 20H2 and I stopped it but I feel it’s only a matter of time before they try again.

I did similar 5 years ago. I started with Win 7 and installed Mint Cinnamon 18.3 as dual boot. After about 3 months I realized I did not need the Windows and all the antivirus measures at all and turned everything I had into full Mint machines. Haven’t looked back or missed one thing about MS since. :)
The peace of mind alone has been priceless.
