Having served in tanks I’d sure be reluctant to wear something like that around moving machinery or inside a tank turret.

Correct. There are many reasons not to have long hair but safety is a top priority. I served with airmen who were maimed for life by getting something caught in equipment.

Kind of defeats the purpose of having tanker boots to make sure you don’t have any laces that get tangled up. It’s probably far safer to have an exposed boot lace free in the turret than it is to have a 12” pony tail.
