The 1619 Project was developed by Nikole Hannah-Jones of the New York Times that supposedly focuses on the cause(s) and consequences of slavery, etc, but does this "project" miss the target intentionally or otherwise?
Before anything like this "project" (opposed by President Donald Trump and numerous other politicians, educators, etc, across the United States) should have even been attempted, much less potentially taught within classrooms in high school or beyond, were the times before the 1600's explored or even much less considered? Those origins could be covered in a "1400's Project" that deals with how the slave trade began in the 1400's with African tribes who collaborated with Europeans in the slave trade. A further examination of the slave trade could be brought about by delving into the rampant slavery conducted by Muslim areas of the Middle East even before the 1400's and the degree to which they enslaved both blacks and whites. And did any nations in the Middle East before the 700's-1000's AD engage in a slave trade, even during BC times?
Pertaining to the slave trade and the 1600's, has an in-depth and comprehensive analysis been conducted and published looking beyond merely which nations were involved and perusing which specific companies were involved in any way or capacity (primarily, secondarily or even tangentially), who owned the slave ships, where were the slave houses in Europe or across the ocean located, on what days was the selling of slaves conducted, and on and on?
Pertaining to CRT and/or any of its proponents, how could they, if they were to say so, possibly declare that enslaving others is indicative of only one race and ignore it being a problem potentially found within all humans of the past?
“Those origins could be covered in a “1400’s Project” that deals with how the slave trade began in the 1400’s with African tribes who collaborated with Europeans in the slave trade.”
You’re saying Europeans were conducting slave trading in the 1400’s?
Where were the slaves shipped to? The America’s weren’t colonized.
So Africans also owned the slave ships amd slave markets where they were sold? Which individuals owned each and every slave ship, who was involved elsewhere, etc, would have to be ferreted out along with those who invested in the slave trade.
“In fact, it was the USA that actually got rid of the practice.”
Um, no we did not end it; slavery is still a thing today.
Look it up.
Author of 1619 as well as Howard Zinn left that part out..Can’t have whites are bad as the narrative if Africans were part of slavery.......
I don;t know about the ships, but it was their slave market....
Ummm jews.
Portuguese involvement began in the mid to late 1400’s.
All I know is that I had nothing to do with the slave trade. The sins of the father should not be visited on the son.
In contrast, the US prohibited the slave trade January 1, 1808, less than 20 years after the adoption of the Constitution. Hardly the action of a nation supposedly founded to be able to maintain slavery, was it? FYI, the British, from whom we supposedly separated to preserve slavery, only prohibited the slave trade in 1807.
We have various types of slavery right here in the USA right now. Sex slavery is a big one, including local hustlers getting women hooked on drugs to sell their bodies as well as newly arrived people brought in specifically to be sex workers on a hope one day they will be Free Americans. But some of it is also arranged by expats who bring people in then take away their passports and stack them 4 to a bedroom and make them work in sweatshops to pay off their “transportation and housing” costs over several years.
“Why is the USA being blamed???”
They do not recognize the United States. They don’t don’t care, to them they are all the same. It is an attack on western culture and is a racist campaign.
They see no distinction between the U.S. and the UK colonial system nor among French, Canadian, Spanish, etc...
They look at it as all one system, one society. The transient governmental structures are seen as irrelevant.

Thanks.
Where’d they move the slaves to? Where’d they work?
Not South Anerica in the 1400’s.
Everything bad that has ever happened is the fault of Western Civilization (especially Christians and Jews).
Slavery existed in ancient Egypt, ancient Rome, in the pre-Columbia America, and probably with cavemen. It is a condition of man. Slavery still exists today, particularly in Muslim countries, but also in China and dare I write, the United States, under different guises. It was wrong millennia ago and it is wrong today no matter what moniker you attach to it. I am willing to bet it will exist a century from now.
In terms of America, and that is what we should first care about, we should feel confident that slavery was outlawed in the 19th century and we have law enforcement that works towards eliminating it today (not that the Xiben Administration cares about human trafficking occurring at our border). It is good to know that many in our nation push towards a society and culture that eliminates the root of slavery every day. Quite simply that is some class of people having control over another class of people. Democrats are not included in that solution. They are constantly dividing people into classes, particularly special protected classes that have unequal power over others. Politicians are not included in that solution as long as they write laws that apply to the people, but don't apply to them.
Quite honestly, we need to drop the emphasis on the past transgressions of our forefathers, emphasize their strengths, and be good Christians. Forgive us our trespasses and we forgive the trespasses of others. I think you know where I am coming from on that. Then we need focus on current behavior in society. That is quite simply recognizing that God made unequal people but we have the responsibility to ensure they have equal rights and not to expect equal outcomes. Equal outcomes not possible in any society because God made us unique individuals. We cannot be the same.

Exactly. And since they’re all the same, differences such as countries and governments don’t matter.
It really is Hitlerian in the extent of its racism and satanic in its attempt to keep humanity enslaved.
A group was expelled from Spain because it was working with Muslims, it had originally invited the Almoravids to invade Iberia, it went to the dike country of Netherlands where the land could be flooded, the Duke of Alba couldn’t invade, Netherlands became a great piratical force, founding New Holland from where this unnamed group was dominant in the triangular trade, they established a remote outpost in Netherlands Antilles, ABC, Aruba Bonaire Curacao where the language Papiameto “chatting” counts as it’s slave time antecedents Spanish, West African, Portuguese and Hebrew. The major New Amsterdam slaving family names were Spanish, but not Catholic.
I would have said The Dutch as my first guess, at least as far as slavery in the Americas goes. If not the first, among the largest groups especially in the century before Independence for as you said, the triangle trade.
At the time of our founding there were more Whites enslaved in Africa than there were Africans and those of African heritage here.
It was their fellow black Africans who captured and sold their countrymen.
