Who the hell knows what’s going on with any couple? When you come down to it, no one outside of the two really knows how things are... and even within the couple there can be a wide difference of opinion on that. With that said, I’ve known a fair number of long-brewing “when the youngest kid turns 18” divorces, and this has the appearance of that. A lot of families don’t want to deal with the can of worms involved with child-custody, parental visitation rights, etc. so they stick it out, legally at least, until the kids are all adults. The fact that they’ve already worked out an amicable split of their vast empire indicates that this didn’t happen overnight. They’ve probably been hammering that out over the course of months, even years.
