One Nigerian teenager must feel like she has the world at her feet after receiving 19 full-ride scholarship offers from universities across the United States and Canada.
Victory Yinka-Banjo, a 17-year-old high school graduate, was offered more than $5 million dollars' worth of scholarship money for an undergraduate program of study, according to admission documents and estimates of financial aid awards.
Other US scholarship offers included those from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Stanford University, Johns Hopkins University and the University of Virginia.

I’m sorry to rain on everyone’s feel good parade, but the IVYs , Stanford, etc... receive literally thousands of applications from kids equally as smart, from China, Korea, Taiwan, Singapore. None are offered full scholarships and certainly none are feted on CNN.

The Africans I have known are nothing like most of the black people in the US. I haven only know about half a dozen or so, but they have all been hard workers and and quite conservative.
It’s probably in the top 20 in the world, but it’s not MIT. It’s generally considered #2 in Israel.
Of course, I went to MIT, so that’s what I say.

She has the right skin color - plus she appears pleasant and is probably well-mannered and smart enough to last the full four years typically needed to get an undergraduate degree.
She probably will be a role model for other quota admission students.

The Nigerians and Ethiopians I have known in my own small circle have been smart, polite folks with a good sense of morals. (I only know Christian ones).
Fifteen or so years ago, an “African American” wrote an article complaining about Nigerians. A third of black medical school graduates from Ivy League schools were Nigerian. Upper class Nigerians were taking advantage of preferences for both blacks and immigrants. End result - affirmative action was helping black immigrants, not African Americans.

I’m going to have the young ones start self-identifing as Nigerian female youts. Beats paying for college.
