Legend’s cheap and easy Pseudo Pizza recipe:
Start with a flour tortilla, Any kind will do, but I like the ‘fluffy’ ones.
Squirt on and spread enough regular catsup to cover thinly (or thickly if you like it that way). Sprinkle it with a little “Cavenders All Purpose Greek Seasoning” (it may be greek, but on catsup, it tastes just like pizza sauce. Cover with shredded mozzarella cheese, and top it with sliced pepperoni. Bake in oven on baking sheet at 375-400F for about 5-7 minutes.
I’ve made it with diced up ham or chicken lunch meat, salami, or crumbled bacon bits, and it is OK, but I prefer the pepperoni. Of course you can use whatever toppings you normally have on pizza.
And sometimes when I’m feeling adventurous, I’ll put on a little bit of onion and/or a very light sprinkling of shredded monterrey jack / cheddar or longhorn mix on top of the meat.
You can also do the same on the smaller diameter flour “street taco” tortillas. Takes four or five of them to fill me up, but one or two and salad would make a nice balanced meal.
It may not be as cheap, but I use BBQ sauce instead of ketchup.
Dang, we might be related somehow,
My mom did this for a cheap pizza night in the 70’s. Almost the same recipe. Always with the 6” flour tortillas.
Messican pizza night. She made a couple of dozen to feed us.
Take a dozen Thomas's English Muffins (with all the nooks and crannies) and slice them up. Put them on a large cookie sheet and coat with olive oil. Then pour Ragu tomato sauce over them. Sprinkle with shredded cheese and bake.
As kids, we gobbled those up and deemed it very good pizza.
Whenever I tell an authentic Italian about this recipe, they seem to have a heart attack.
Thank you! I just happen to have an unopened pack of fluffy flour tortillas on hand. Perfect. Now I just have to find the Greek seasoning. Sounds good!!!
Just googled and found the Greek seasoning — my Walmart has it.
