Former Bruins player and color commentator Johnny Peirson has died at age 95.
Peirson played in two NHL All-Star games, hit the 20-goal plateau four times, and finished his career with 153 goals and 173 assists for 326 points in 545 games.
He joined the WBZ radio broadcast booth in 1969 and called games alongside play-by-play announcer Fred Cusick. They then transitioned to television together, where they announced Bruins games for 18 years.

I had no idea he was still alive. Loved his commentary between periods.
UHF channel 38 would carry the games and I watched as many as possible while growing up there in the 70’s and 80’s . I’m glad he had a good long run in life .
Rest In Peace, Johnny, and thank you for the memories. Our prayers are with your loved ones.
Back in the day, before hi-def and laser puck spotting, there would be a goal scored and whether from a scrum or from deft stick handling, Johnny would make the call as to how it was scored. To the viewer, it was just a blur but after his call, the replay would prove Johnny got it right, every time.
My dad arranged speakers for his mens club and he brought Johnny in more than once. Dad would regale us with some of the stories afterward, me being too young to attend. I imagine there were some stories Dad didn’t share :)
RIP.
