UHF channel 38 would carry the games and I watched as many as possible while growing up there in the 70’s and 80’s . I’m glad he had a good long run in life .

Rest In Peace, Johnny, and thank you for the memories. Our prayers are with your loved ones.

Back in the day, before hi-def and laser puck spotting, there would be a goal scored and whether from a scrum or from deft stick handling, Johnny would make the call as to how it was scored. To the viewer, it was just a blur but after his call, the replay would prove Johnny got it right, every time.

My dad arranged speakers for his mens club and he brought Johnny in more than once. Dad would regale us with some of the stories afterward, me being too young to attend. I imagine there were some stories Dad didn’t share :)

This is sad to hear. I grew up listening to Johnny Pierson and Fred Cusik on Channel 38 in Boston during the 1970s.
