After a public outcry, a robotic dog once hailed by the New York Police Department a high-tech crime-fighting sidekick is getting sent back to its owner.
In February, a viral video of the futuristic dog — seen patrolling a Bronx neighborhood after officers responded to a hostage situation — sparked controversy.

I think the black mirror TV series killed the potential for these things.
They need to redesign them to look less like a headless zombie Doberman.

The police canceled a $94,000 contract with the robot's maker DE Blasio would rather pay $25 million dollars in a suit following an incident where Digidog could have helped.

They need to redesign them to look less like a headless zombie Doberman. Or paint it a different color so it would be more acceptable to "people of color".

Wait a minute.... look at all the color on that dog...it’s.a ‘dog of color’ and therefore it’s racist to fire him (assuming its pronouns are masculine).

Yeah, G-d forbid NYPD could save some officers’ lives avoiding ambush/assassination because some ignoramuses are “skeered” of Robodog. A more proper response would have been, “You’re afraid of our new Robodog? Good. Don’t commit any crimes, he won’t bother you.”
