I watch TCM movies (about the only thing worth watching) and I’ve felt ancient for a long time. Time zips like the speed of light.

Alzheimer’s sucks. For everyone. I am in line for it. I've told my kids: when my mind is gone, please just let me go.
Of course, they believe this is already the case.

Oh. Sad. I loved him. (My first boyfriend looked quite a bit like him.)

In the early ‘90s I was dating a guy quite a bit younger. He got to work one day and said that he’d just heard a really good new group on the radio. Three Dog Night. I had to move on.

I officially felt old a couple of years ago, when a young bunch of college students were interviewed about music groups...They all knew who the rolling stones were and none of them knew who the Beatles or Beach Boys were...... In the 80s the joke went "Did you know Paul McCartney was in a group before Wings?

But we kids loved it when Lucas was in a gunfight, then went semi-lever full auto and blasted..”BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG!” filling the air with lead!
But he never hit anyone in that mode. Only one or two shots put the bad guy down.
If I remember, the first RIFLEMAN episode I saw was the pilot and was shown on Dick Powell’s Zane Grey Theater.

Chuck Conners was one of few men that played two sports at the major league level. Baseball and basketball for him.

The Rifleman and Gunsmoke are my absolute all time favorites. The acting, especially James Arness, is magnificent.
To: waredbird
I can think of two, right off the bat.
Gene Conley (Red Sox and Celtics),
and
Dave DeBuschere (Tigers and Pistons).
That was a different world.

I was pretty shocked to learn that John Havlicek (Celtics) was drafted by the Cleveland Browns
To: newfreep
Chuck Conners was also the first pro basketball player to smash a backboard.

The Lucas McCain Character killed over 120 Bad Guys in the five Years the Show ran.
I think the other McCain lost five Jet Fighters during his stint in the Military.

"‘The Rifleman’ was more than just an action western. Every episode also taught a morality lesson. RIP Johnny, Chuck, and Paul (Paul Fix, the marshal)."Indeed, and with a manly moralistic father and son, which today is very non-PC.

"And Lucas kept his extra ammo in his shirt pocket. Never saw him reloading except during the intro of the show. Fired off 8 shots, replaced with 2."That was before someone decided shirts did not need shirt pockets!
