Russian frigate narrowly avoids blasting ITSELF in failed weapon test as cruise missile spins in the air before exploding in the sea just yards from the vessel
Daily Mail UK ^ | Will Stewart

The video was uploaded to a Russian site showing the failed launch.

In the video, the missile is seen launching from the ship, but within moments spins out of control before pointing dangerously back towards the vessel.

Fortunately for the crew, the missile appears to break up-mid and falls in multiple pieces down into the sea, yards away from the frigate.

But a few seconds after the missile vanishes below the water, some large flashes are shown beneath the surface, and the water is shown bubbling from the heat.

It is unclear what could have happened had the missile fallen back onto the warship, but from the video it looks like the ship was a matter of yards from disaster.

BS story. The missile was never headed toward the ship.

Yeah, but close only counts in horseshoes and errant cruise missiles.

Based on what I saw, I’m wondering if they subcontracted the cruise missile to Elon Musk

Why the shot at Musk? He has made tremendous advancements in the field.

No. 7. Nothing “unfortunate” about a Soviet Stinger-like missile coming back and exploding in the launch tube that was “Unfortunately, this was usually still on the shoulder of the person who fired the missile”.

One less Russki. Saw similar films of enemy shoulder-fired missile failures from Iraq and Afghanistan. Ordered popcorn for everyone.

You’re right, it was just a little joke based on the several rocket failures he has had (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p9FzWPObsWA).

But I actually do respect the good work he has done, and realize that problems like those he has had go with the process.

I saw something similar when I was in the Navy. I was on an aircraft carrier and during our workups one of our escorts did a missile firing. The missile came out off the rails, made to big loops and into the water. I thought the ship that fired the missile was going to be hit. It was exciting but I was disappointed because I wanted to see the missile fly off and hit the drone.
