Phil Collins can’t even stand up any more…
…literally.
“He’s got a lot of back and nerve problems from drumming though, so maybe “spry” isn’t the right word. Seems pretty healthy otherwise though.”
Yes, I’m happy to hear he feels able to perform through an entire tour. I don’t go to concerts anymore unless I’m performing in them but I know about jonesing to play.
His son will be drumming on the tour.
Yep, he sat down during his recent solo tour, really sad to see, although I suspect it gives him something to do and keeps him from drinking himself to death.
Also, Chester will not be on this tour, I think it will be just Phil’s son drumming.
Well you won't mistake "Sledgehammer" for "The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway", wouldn't you?
Comparing apples to apples, Sledgehammer is 100X Sussudio.

Just utter, utter genius.
Paperlate paperlate
Paperlate paperlatePaperlate, oh I'm sorry but there is no one on the line
Paperlate, oh I'm sorry but rest easy no news is good newsOoh it's too easy to live like clockwork
Tick tock watching the world go by
Any change would take too long
So dry your eyes
Ooh it's too easy to live in a cold sweat
Just sitting dripping in pools below
You can wipe your face
Kill the pain
But the fever won't go, no noPaperlate
Pull it together now
Put your feet back on the groundPaperlate
Ooh don't worry now
You're not alone
Look around you
Paperlate
Ooh I'm sorry but there's no one on the linePaperlate

Point being, all 70s acts that had success in the 80s had to change with the times.
*Cough* Sellout *cough*
I think the best Collins moment with Genesis, was a short song called “Guide Vocal” on Duke.
I am the one who guided you this far,
All you know and all you feel.
Nobody must know my name
For nobody would understand,
And you kill what you fear.
I call you for I must leave,
You’re on your own until the end.
There was a choice but now it’s gone,
I said you wouldn’t understand,
Take what’s yours and be damned.
"Every single night we play!"
And you do know Gabriel sang backing vocals on “Take Me Home” from that same album.
Heck I’d even like to see Ant Phillips.
He did some real good solo albums, Phil even provided vocals on a few songs.
And Steve’s “Voyage of the Acolyte” is great too.
I also recommmend Mike Rutherford’s “Smallcreep’s Day”.
Tony’s solo career didn’t go so well, but there was a fantastic song he did with Fish (from Marillion) called “Another Murder of a Day”.
A Trick of the Tail, treading water?!?!?!?!
Every single song on that album is fantastic!
In the “We built this City” thread a few days ago I went back and looked at the state of Pop music 1985,
It was almost all, made-for-MTV-terrible but for a lot of the cringiest songs, you can name that tune from any 4 random notes played in the song, 35 years later, so the plan worked perfectly.

Amazing drummer who sadly has arthritis at this point in his life. Also hear from others who have met him that he is a very nice man.
Paperlate was a reference to “Dancing With The Moonlit Knight” on Selling England By The Pound:
“Paper late!” cried a voice in the crowd
“Old man dies!” The note he left was signed ‘Old Father Thames’
It seems he’s drowned
Selling England by the pound
"PAPERLATE...PAPERLATE...Read all about it!"
