well on the Japanese sort of.

Grandmother is obaasan or baba for short in Japanese

While Grandfather is ojiisan or just jiisan.

I always get in trouble though because aunt is obasan and uncle is ojisan the only difference for both is the longer sound in the grandparents terms...so I’m often calling younger folks in the family old people - LOL

Since my wife is Japanese I fully expect to get called jiisan which if fine - long as they come running for hugs and sit in my lap to read comics and watch cartoons and steal cookies with me :)

Grandkids will do all that—and more! Wait until they tell you their deepest thoughts and “secrets.” I get tears in my eyes every time. Their trust and love is amazing.

Imagine all the secrets and thoughts our poor distant grandchildren have been holding in for the last year.
