We might want to go back to an idea that Alexander Hamilton tried out in the taverns of Philadelphia in advance of the Constitutional Convention of 1787. The idea didn't find any takers, but maybe the time was just wrong.

Hamilton wanted to dissolve the 13 states and free the counties to form new states. The final result might be 5 states of 25 states, but it would permit similar interests to combine.

There really is no solution other than to root out all corruption. Then the entire picture will look very different. The idea proposed by CtC is chop it all up into little bits with commies controlling these areas and decent humans controlling these other areas.

Couldn’t be worse, or more opposed to the principles that founded the Republic, Trump’s vision and plan, or WWG1WGA.

PS - doesn’t necessarily mean that states could have different boundaries, although that doesn’t seem any sort of a beneficial solution to anything.

CORRECTION (and if I don’t start previewing first, I should start wearing mittens and quit typing).

PS - doesn’t necessarily mean that states couldN’T have different boundaries, although that doesn’t seem any sort of a beneficial solution to anything.

I don’t know about the 5 or 25 states. It seems we would be trading one problem for another and ending up with fewer representative per capita. I think our problem now is we have too few representatives and that renders the ones who exist more powerful than they should be.

But, once the corruption is exposed the corrupters removed, civics lessons need to take place and this should include reading Hamilton and others. Then people can discuss and debate whether or not long-term remedies to mitigate corruption require different state boundaries and how many.
