Ever since their 2020 event was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Burning Man Project has spent months debating whether they could safely hold a gathering at Black Rock Desert in 2021. Today, they announced the the answer is no.
Burning Man revealed that despite the restrictions lifting across the United States as vaccination becomes more widespread, they will not hold their yearly event until 2022. A statement released through their website explained the decision:
Advertisement "Humanity is experiencing collective trauma that is unprecedented in recent times, and while for some returning to Black Rock City may feel like 'the answer,' there is very real rebuilding and healing that needs to be done before returning full force to the desert. The physical, psychic, and emotional impacts of this pandemic are real and the recovery from this experience will happen at different rates of speed. This is the time to gather with our friends, crews, families and communities."

Burning Man is one of the very few events involving a lot of people I'd like to go to some day.
I'm conservative, don't like crowds, do no drugs, including pot (can't stand the smell, otherwise maybe I might).
The neat vehicles, structures and art IMHO would be worth the trip.
The videos on Youtube of them are really interesting.

Isn’t LSD supposed to be a anticovid pharmaceutical? What are they worrying about?
To: nickcarraway
They should make it a mask burning event. That would get alot of participants.

They have the 1st amendment right to freedom of assembly, even if we disagree with them.
You seem to have an issue with da 1st amendment.

The people who frequent Burning Man and similar psychedelic gatherings and music festivals aren't the problem. They are not even part of the problem. They are usually people of means/employed, incidents of bad behavior violence are rare, often alcohol is not allowed, and generally behave themselves. They aren't the sex-scandal ridden alcoholic weirdos with psycholoical issues versed in mass exploitation we find so plentiful in government, who are the problem. Know your enemy and avoid the kneejerk "us/them" mentality.

Shouldn't they rename 'Burning Man' to be more inclusive of all 67 genders or at least change the name to 'Burning White Man' Festival?

This is laughably stupid. The vaccines are widely available. And this event wasn’t even until August. Not a logical reason in the world not to hold it. Not that it concerns me. Not my kind of event. But sheesh.
