WALDORF, Md. (7News) — Officers with the Charles County Sheriff's Office continue to investigate an incident at a Waldorf Taco Bell after they say several people including employees were hit by a car.
According to the sheriff's office, the incident happened around 10:23 p.m. on Wednesday, March 31, on Smallwood Drive.
A spokesperson for the Prince George's County Department of Corrections confirmed to 7News that both suspects involved in the incident are correctional officers and were off-duty at the time.
Tanesha Renea Williams, 25, of Waldorf, has been identified as the driver in the incident by the Charles County Sheriff's Office and the alleged passenger has been identified as Diamond Shanay Johnson, 28, of Waldorf.
Officers say they responded for a report of an assault and a preliminary investigation shows that an argument broke out between passengers in a vehicle and an employee at the drive-thru window about a food order.
According to the sheriff's office, both Williams and Johnson got out of the vehicle and Williams assaulted the employee at the drive-thru window during the argument before getting back into the vehicle.
Williams, the driver, left the drive-thru and pulled to the front of the business with the car before driving the vehicle towards a group of people standing outside of the front doors, including employees, officers say.
She then drove toward the group, hitting several people before crashing into the front doors of the Taco Bell, according to the sheriff's office.
According to officers, the vehicle continued to drive into the restaurant before backing up and leaving in the car.
