The skyrocketing number of COVID-19 cases in India is likely driven by a “far more infectious and probably far more deadly” variant — and is driving hospitals to “beyond [a] crisis point,” a top physician warned Tuesday.
Dr. Zarir Udwadia, who works in Mumbai hospitals and consults for the government, said he has seen “ward after ward full of patients struggling to breathe on ventilators of different forms and shapes.”

That contradicts real-world, massive studies on the subject. Israel has data for most of their population which suggests that it's far more effective than the numbers you give.

The current vaccines all target the S protein, which is the protein that binds to cellular receptors and enables entry into human cells. The virus doesn't function without that protein and the immune system is highly reactive to it. It's a great target. If the protein shape changes such that the antibodies are less effective (e.g. Brazil and South Africa variants), the vaccines can be modified to compensate. Pfizer and Moderna are already putting together a new shot that should be tested and ready for this fall to substantially increase protection against the variants known to reduce the effectiveness of existing vaccines.

Not true. The mRNA vaccines are particularly easy to adjust. Using the pathway that flu vaccines use for reapproval each year, a minor adjustment is a paperwork exercise for FDA. With an EUA, they have to do more work, but Pfizer and Moderna are both ready to apply for full FDA approvals. At that point, they can make the adjustment to new batches within days of identifying a new variant and put those in the hands of those at the high priority list within weeks. The original prototype Moderna vaccine for COVID-19 was created within days of the release of the complete genome for SARS-CoV-2. With the third generation vaccines (mRNA platform), there's nothing to "grow" or harvest. It doesn't take 6 months to produce. They simply adjust the nucleotide sequence to match and new batches are updated.

No vaccines on the market use CRSPR. I'm not aware of any vaccines in development using it either. If anyone tried, it would come under extreme scrutiny for the risk of genetic damage.

The selected antigen is a critical component of the viral lifecycle and elicits significant immune response from both T cells and B cell produced neutralizing antibodies. It's not a guess about which antigen you use; they test that in pre-clinical trials. Pfizer had two different vaccines they put through Phase 1 and Phase 2 clinical trials. They took the second one to Phase 3 because they found it elicited greater T cell response. This stuff is methodically tested.

With all the machines out there to do it (all around the world), with hundreds of millions of cases to provide samples, and with the exceptionally high priority on COVID over the last year, it beggars belief that no one took the time to do it.
The COVID-19 genome is about 30,000 base pairs long. The human genome is over 3 billion - about 100,000 times longer. Yet people now routinely get their entire personal genome sequenced. I have.
The reality is that genomic sequencing and analysis is very advanced, far beyond simply being able to identify COVID. They have three dimensional models of COVID to see how it moves when interacting with cells and chemicals. They have each little feature or segment studied by teams of specialists, and supercomputing centers running Artificial Intelligence programs mulling over its structure and behavior.
Really, the bottom line with Internet posts saying COVID has never been isolated, is that it just goes to show how wildly whack-a-doodle some stuff on the Internet can be. With everyone focused on COVID, some percentage of the voices (some of the loudest) will be deliberate pranksters, and the profoundly paranoid.

I'd heard way deep down on a thread, or maybe another site, someone who knows "dot not feather" Indian doctors here, or Indians with MD relatives over on the subcontinent rather than in the continental US...As grey_whiskers says, your mileage may vary...that the US dot-not-feather-MDs had persuaded the over-there MDs, to stop using Ivermectin /HCQ-Zinc, and that cases over-there suddenly spiked in consequence. But the MDs-over-there have now said, "F that S" and gone back to the cheap OTC drugs, so they expect new cases to plummet.

I believe that Vaccine was used in China Wuhan back when SARS was making its rounds. That might explain the high death rates in Wuhan when Covid-19 arrived.
I know China provided Vaccines to Brazil, but I am not sure if they did for India. China does not like India.

People really need to apply a little common sense to these kooky internet legends. The idea that doctors in India would stop using a drug based on talking to Indian doctors living in the USA is beyond silly. And the fake report that this internet legend came from actually blamed Biden for stopping Indian MDs from treating their patients. Yeah, Biden did it! The story was aimed directly at conspiracy addicts, and scored a direct hit.
