The Road to the River.

Posted on 04/27/2021 7:19:57 AM PDT by Mrs. Warrior

We are getting a new boat that is made for the river. It has a shallow hull and a water jet engine so it can carry us over shallows and shoals. We have been looking for improved launch sites near us. During one of our reconnaissance trips we had quite an adventure; the access road down to the river was very steep. My husband asked if I wanted to go down? “Sure I do” I replied, “but I don't think the Escape wants to”.

My husband found a dirt road that would bring me closer to the river so we could enjoy the water and a picnic lunch. We drove between two trees that were on either side of the road it was a very narrow fit, and we did not know until we drove through it if we were going to get stuck. We were joking “well at least I packed enough food”. Earlier my husband had found some old fishing lures so I told him “don't even think of putting your hand into the bag of popcorn”. We had blankets and I had my makeup bag and cell phones but of course, there was no signal. We wondered if the back hatch and window would open from the inside? I was thinking “my husband is fit, so he would have to be the first one to try to get out, being half way in and stuck halfway out was not for me”. Well, we squeezed through the narrow passage of trees and all was well.

The river has some lovely adventures waiting for us to explore. I have encephalomacia, or a lesion or scar in my brain resulting from a head injury which could lead to a coma. I have to be responsible about my wishes should something happen so we are getting Advanced Medical Directives notarized. The document allows me to chose what kind of care I wish or do not wish if I am unable to personally declare my wishes at the time. It asks if I wanted comfort medications, I was like, “of course, I would rather be in the arms of Jesus in heaven then to lie in a bed”.

I trust my husband to take care of me while I sleep; that is so sad to think of, but that is not where I will park my thoughts at. I have a bridge made for me, the body and blood of Jesus at the cross made the entry for me to cross the river Jordan; to be a child of God to enter heaven. In these end of the age times I feel the call to love people enough to share the good new of the Gospel to point the way to the official “port of entry” so to speak and to share the joy and love that make the journey there peaceful and blessed. If the Lord tarries then I want to die responsibly but live freely. My family needs me and I always want to be here to love them. I have been having rather extreme daytime sleepiness and I struggle to stay alert. I know that the hand of Jesus, where my name is written, is always underneath me upholding me with everlasting love.

I know the road to the river and I know the road home, but my husband drives me. I am a passenger, and God is the giver of love and life and at the end of the day we were remembering our adventure; there are more rivers to run. The lovely green rivers after a springtime rain turn muddy and then we wait for the sun to make the river run green again.

While in life we wait for the heavenly clear river coming from the throne of God. If in the tumult of life we let muddy river of unforgiveness run in our heart then the river runs into a swamp; but forgiving and having faith lead us to springs bubbling up from water of refreshing life and clean purity. There are big muddy rivers that run to the sea, then get lost in the ocean of humanity. I prefer to be carried in our boat on rivers that can lead me to high cliffs with birds dwelling in their shelter, then to run back up the river to find where we put in, and where our ride home awaits us.
