Gee, that is a “good” idea that is already in there already. Note the plug in modules that several insurance companies have as a “savings option”, and we see the future. Just get a clue, and know they are there. People will find a way of negating or defeating this system, they always do. And thus, it will possibly defeat the purpose in the first place. More “surveillance state” idiocy.

The real “spooky” thing will be if it is someday possible, that if you make a mistake while driving, or some such excuse, and either a remote or autonomous system takes over. You would lose control, and it either stops, locking you in, so that you can be picked up by the authorities... or you wreck. Wonderful.

Typical of most devices. Guess these knuckleheads in Congress want to mandate something similar. Look at the last three....

“The telematics device that Progressive uses for the Snapshot program collects the following data:

Braking: The system looks for instances of hard-braking (braking/stopping suddenly or quickly).
Acceleration: The device records instances of quick acceleration.
Time of day: The device records when you drive, specifically the time of day that you’re on the road.
Mileage: The device records the length of each trip to accurately determine how many miles you regularly drive.
Trip frequency: How often you drive your car will also be recorded.
Location: The device includes a GPS to locate your vehicle.”
