Moderna’s latest analysis of its vaccine clinical trial data shows 900 people got COVID-19 after being vaccinated, consistent with 90% or more efficacy for the vaccine, company spokesperson Colleen Hussey said.
Pfizer spokesperson Jerica Pitts said the company would monitor trial participants for two years after their second dose to learn more about the Pfizer vaccine’s protection against COVID-19.
In its reporting, the CDC is defining a breakthrough case strictly as illness or a positive test two weeks or more after full vaccination. But tens of thousands of people who have had a first shot or are short of two weeks after their second shot are also getting infected.
Pfizer and Moderna report data showing up to 80% protection from infection two weeks or so after the first shot. But most experts believe protection ranges widely, from 50% to 80%, depending on the length of time after the shot and the individual variation that exists with any vaccine.

I hope my friend who is one of the early Moderna test subjects is well protected, but until I see the results two or three years down the road, I am just going to watch from the sidelines.
These so-called breakthrough infections occurred among people of all ages. Just over 40% were in people age 60 or older, and 65% occurred in women.
I saw a video clip awhile back. The shot dosage has to go into the muscle and not the surrounding body fat. Pinching the shot area is a big no-no. It makes sense more women came down with covid. They have more body fat and less muscle.
If the vaccine is 90%+ effective, as they claim, this article’s entire purpose is to maintain control through fear. This is the first quarantine to isolate the healthy. Their fervent hope is to maintain this economy strangling control through the 2022 election.
There were 11 cases of covid reported after the two month observation period after vaccination in the clinical trial.
Now, in those same clinical trial people there have been 900 cases.
The vaccine isn’t a preventative. All it does is lessen the severity and duration of the illness, a lot like a flu shot. I still get the flu every year, despite vaccination. However, they were nowhere near as bad as the one year I skipped the vaccine. An unwise thing to do if you’re immune suppressed.

Why the strange wording “up to 80%”? What was the actual percentage, because it apparently is less than 80%.

Summary of Data from Phase 3 Clinical Trial
The primary efficacy analysis population (referred to as the Per-Protocol Set), included 28,207 participants who received two doses (at 0 and 1 month) of either Moderna COVID‑19 Vaccine (n=14,134) or placebo (n=14,073), and had a negative baseline SARS‑CoV‑2 status.
The median length of follow up for efficacy for participants in the study was 9 weeks post Dose 2. There were 11 COVID‑19 cases in the Moderna COVID‑19 Vaccine group and 185 cases in the placebo group, with a vaccine efficacy of 94.1% (95% confidence interval of 89.3% to 96.8%).
Cases of COVID‑19, starting 14 days after Dose 2, were defined as symptomatic COVID‑19 requiring positive RT-PCR result and at least two systemic symptoms or one respiratory symptom.
Among all participants in the Per-Protocol Set analysis, which included COVID‑19 cases confirmed by an adjudication committee, no cases of severe COVID‑19 were reported in the Moderna COVID‑19 Vaccine group compared with 30 cases reported in the placebo group (incidence rate 9.138 per 1,000 person-years). One PCR-positive case of severe COVID‑19 in a vaccine recipient was awaiting adjudication at the time of the analysis.
