I finally got my Berry Dazzle dwarf Crape Myrtle for my balcony. Had to drive 90 minutes with a friend to go get it and save myself $13 in shipping. While we were at this ginormous nursery in southern MD, my friend found a dwarf fig she'd been after and some varieties of tomatoes and other veggies she hadn't seen anywhere else. In addition to my Berry Dazzle (a birthday present to myself), I found a fabulous petunia by Crazytunia called Blackberry Cheesecake, and darn if it doesn't have the exact colors of a good cheesecake. Way less calories, too! I just had to get one of those petunias. My friend and I had already stocked up on our annuals at a great nursery we found in the middle of nowhere, Biglerville, PA.

My balcony garden is starting to come back to life after winter, and the hostas are pipping or even leafing out. Each day or so, I find another hosta or two has made it through the winter and pipped. Three of my heucheras are growing new baby leaves, but alas, little "Frost" didn't make it through the winter. Anyone know of somewhere I can find another dwarf heuchera "Frost"?

Had to check it out, of course! Blackberry Cheesecake Crazytunia:

The interesting thing about these 'swirled' varieties of flowers is that it's caused by a virus that you normally DON'T want, when you're breeding things.
