I sailed through this area in the Pacific , in Sept.of 1973. The North Pacific High. We saw zero garbage at that time, just 3 days of motoring thru a vast , glassy, windless, waveless sea. However we did pick up quite a number of very cool blown glass Japanese fishing floats there. Small & large , brown and green , some with nets attached , some without.

I found one in the ‘70s that made it through a local reef, probably Yeah that’s because there was netting over it. There are rumored to be lots of them in little coves in the Gulf of Alaska.
