Ummm, should I tell you the origin of the band name, “Steely Dan”?
There’s a bathroom on the right.
Was their nickname “centiliter?”
Had a couple of break-ups through the years. The song still makes me cry to this day.
The Talk Box. Up until then only Joe Walsh had really used it as a soloing effect. It was a gimmick, but an interesting one.
Show Me the Way is on my favorite playlist
Interesting. Thank you for the nice distraction from the daily pile of bad news.
Thanks for the ear worm...
“The Things We Do For Love” is a good song.
I hate you...
By the way so is baby shark. 😇
There is a little Bevis & Butthead inside every Man,
#MeToo. It may (seem to) go away for long periods of time, but it is still there, sneering at all that is ‘respectable’ in society. Some women are the same way, in my opinion.
That is onehelluva song. Gets me in the ‘feels’ every time.
Thanks for posting. :)
I have always considered this song to be a masterpiece. The meticulous and compulsive engineering puts even Tom Scholz of Boston to shame.
This track has always made me feel as if I were floating on a cloud. It is ethereal. It is amazing...and it has a great backstory.
Saw the video making of “I’m not in Love” a while back and it is very interesting.
There is a musician named Kelsey Lu that did a cover of this song (and made a video) in 2019. It is a cool cover and is even haunting.
The way I found this is there was an HBO series called Euphoria (your grand children watched this) There was a really strange scene in an episode and they played this Kelsey Lu version during the scene.
Give it a shot.

I was in my forties before I finally looked what they were saying in that line.
What was the alternative? Bob Seeger? Kung fu fighting? The hustle?
It was fun.
I just spent a half hour on that web site....
1976, Boston self titled debut album. It was the best selling debut album until Michael Jackson made his comeback. Didn’t come out until August though so I guess it would be the Autumn of ‘76
