Huh?
One shiny silver lining to this pandemic is that the rarest wife and I spend a LOT more time in the kitchen. I’d be fine if a majority of chain restaurants shuttered. When we do go out to eat, we only patronize local eateries. The “woke” chains can rot, IMO.
I just want a cheese boigy..
Don't expect me to come to your stupid overpriced restaurant. How does that grab you?
Clearly a publication geared towards true cognoscenti and not mere plebeian mouth-breathers like you and I, if they don’t bother to define such terms. Heck, my neighbor considers me a foodie, I go to serious real Asian places (round eyes in the minority) all the time, and I have no idea what three of those words mean.
MRE’s
At home, grill, ribeye is what works for me. Looked up prices at a local steakhouse - steak dinners START at $49 ... that’s the ribeye. For $49, I can buy steak (thick, big ones) for the whole family. It’s just not worth the money to eat out any more (IMO) and that’s before we get to the unhealthy vs healthy food/preparation methods, etc.
It's government overreach that has forced the change.
i cook all the time and get to go out once a week.
I will sorely miss social distancing in restaurants.....
Probably like chow fung. You know, a broad noodle.
One of the nine things...prices are higher.
Just saw an Ad for Cracker Barrel with a mixed couple and daughter , the white guy had the fried chicken and his black wife and daughter had green salad , LOL
First world problems
One thing different for me - I’m through tipping inner city types, since they now elect people who use rioting and the threat of rioting as political weapons.
“hwedupbap” - What pompous bs. Did he name that from his bowl of alphabet soup? If customers can’t pronounce it, they aren’t going to order it. With a handheld covid infected menu, at least they can point to it when ordering.
Two wasted hours sitting in an over priced restaurant, smh. That’s one of the many reasons I don’t eat out. I’ve eaten out... well, make that gone through the drive thru once in well over a year and that was only because we were out all day with medical appointments. No thanks. It takes half an hour for dinner to be home cooked and on the table and that includes a couple of FR posts between pot stirrings. No getting primped and dressed. No wasted travel time or gas expense. No tipping the valet or waiter. No using public restrooms. No wondering how many sweat droplets or coughs or unwashed chef hands tossed my salad.
“Our barrel cactus fruit and prickly pear is foraged daily when in season by our chefs” - Foraged? Seriously? The chefs go out into the desert and forage for cactus? And in their white coats??? Yeah, and I’m driving that turnip truck by them as readers of this fall off the back end. Proper clothing for picking cactus is boots, heavy jeans (not that designer style that’s all cut up), long sleeves and maybe a jacket and leather gloves. And frankly, it’s not worth the effort, btdt.
house-cured salmon...they found a package under the sink.

We no longer eat out.
We even pack our own food on road trips now.
Problem solved.
The typical combine 5 random ingredients and call it a dish.
We visit the nearby Red Lobster once a month for their “Endless Shrimp” promo (they lose money on me).
When they reopened after the shutdown, the double-sided four page menu-in-a-plastic-folder was reduced to an 8 1/2 x 11 double-sided sheet. No more small salad with the lunches or dinner, appetizer list cut, one less cheese biscuit, etc., etc.
OK, I realize the shutdown hammered them, but one year later it is still the same setup. They added “Parrot Isle Jumbo Cocoanut Shrimp” to their “Endless” menu and jacked up the price from $15 to $17.99. So now, after my normal pig-out on Garlic Scampi, I order an extra Parrot Isle and take it home. A 10% jump I could take, but 20%? Sorry.
Going there next Monday and won’t wear a mask - Utah went maskless April 10. Betcha they are like most stores and will still require them. Will make them dole out a couple of freebies, then walk 20’ to the dining area and take it off my chin.
Well maybe some restaurants...
However, the ones we have been frequently eating at recently (Brazilian Steakhouse, Cheesecake Factory, Texas Roadhouse, Waffle House) don’t seem any different menu-wise...
