I've always believed that skydivers were either voluntarily or involuntarily celibate.

Were there a one in a million chance that they might get laid this weekend, well, they're not likely to take the chance and jump.

Me too, and I did twice.

I asked myself the same question as I was preparing for my drop from the Tower at Jump School. While I was putting on my harness, there was a huge commotion. I looked up, and a friend of mine was dangling 200+ feet above me. The wind shifted a millisecond after the parachute was released, and blew him into the tower.

I asked myself the same question before my 3rd jump, from a C-141. I was on the third "stick", i.e. the third pass and was seated 10 feet from the open door.

You can imagine my joy and relief to walk off the drop zone after my fifth and final jump, which earned me my airborne wings.

I was a Paratrooper in the Army. It was part of the Job description.

Once I got out I never once thought I wanted to do it again.

Why anyone would venture into the air in a single-engine aircraft is beyond me. ;-)

I did it in Airborne School, but the training was thorough, chutes were packed by supervised professionals and safety was emphasized.

I've had no desire in civilian life to go to one of these hobbyist operations and jump.

Show me a perfectly good airplane and I won't jump out of it.

... and I have jumped out of thousands and heard this line thousands of times.

Love ya' Red Badger!
