Who did the Volare commercials?

I don't remember, but you made me wince thinking of the old guy singing "Volare" in his off-key voice.

Oh.... By the way... they were in a Chrysler Cordoba... If memory serves me correctly, it was maroon with a white vynil top (not the full top, just from the back seat to the rear) Which explains my post.

I saw a restored ‘75 Cordoba at the muffler shop just this past week. Nice looking car I must say.

The square headlights arrived in ‘78 for what it’s worth. Nice looking cars.

My sister had one. The primitive emissions control made the car literally undriveable, pressing the accelerator caused it to choke down. I will say the leather bucket seats were very comfortable, but the car overall was a piece of junk. I had a ‘76 Datsun (not Nissan) 280Z and it was light years ahead of the Cordoba was far as drivablitity and overall quality.

pressing the accelerator caused it to choke down.

You must be referring to Chrysler's "hesitation/surge" feature. That always made pulling out into traffic exciting.

Nice car...
Right at the start of when the government started dictating what we were allowed to drive...
Cars have never been the same since...
An egregious infringements of the first amendment...
They had already told us where to send our children to school, then they grabbed the automobile...

He talks about the commercial. He said the correct pronunciation was Cordova with emphasis on the first syllable but they wanted him to see Cordova with the emphasis on the second syllable.

“this small Chrysler”

Well, compared to a starship...

Cars were big then. The 1st car I owned was a thoroughly used Olds Delta 88.

In 1979 we were “giving away” Cordobas. You could buy a stripped Volare/Aspen for 5 grand or a fully LOADED Cordoba for the same money (rebates etcetera).

YES!, with Corinthian Leather! We sold a lot of BOTH!

Lee Iacocca was a GENIUS! (SAVED Chrysler, no doubt about it)

oh, my mistake. Thanks for the correction. I just loved the ‘look’ of the car which was my fatal error. sheesh. Lemon... I should have realized buying from a used car salesman with the nickname of ‘Starvin Marvin’ should have clued me in.
