California is so tired of Your Car's Loud Fartcan Exhaust They'll Now Fine You for It

A new California law for 2019 made running a too-loud exhaust a fine-worthy offense instead of a mere fix-it ticket.

So I normally would disagree with thos type of law but as the past couple of years have passed I've noticed these loud exhaust vehicles more and more in my neck of the woods. I do live in a suburb outside of metro Atlanta and have 4 acres. My property does border a 2 lane active road and my house is not situated on the main road. I'm about a football field and a half from said main artery. The excessive noise from these vehicles is to say the least a nuisance. I can't imagine what the houses on the main road hear when these cars blaze through the area. My double pane windows do not eliminate the noise from these attention seekers.. I would wholeheartedly support fining these people versus a fix-it ticket in my state. I guess there is one thing I can agree with California on. What say you? Same here in Western Michigan. It’s usually on ricers, but now I’m seeing / hearing it on even SUVs. Drivers are rarely over 25.

I put straight pipes on my Harley, no baffles. So loud it set off car alarms and nobody would ride behind me. Sounded righteous though. Whatever these kids are doing to trick out their exhaust sound is annoying. No matter what you do to the pipes a 2011 Kia will never be a Lamborghini.

Here in my neck of the woods, the worst offenders aren’t the kids in Civics anymore. More often it’s pickup trucks and Harleys with excessively loud exhausts.

around here it’s deleted straight piped diesel trucks leaving clouds of black smoke for miles.

Part of the problem is Dodge Pickups changing the culture with loud exaust for the purpose of trying to convince people that Dodge trucks were stronger than Ford, Chevy and GMC. All of a sudden little cars like Honda and Toyota started putting those fart mufflers on the cars. Pennsylvania needs to do something similar, with some motorcycles with straight pipes also.

I had a neighbor long story but the owners were staying in another house and let some 20 something relative stay in this one. He had a shift change and started getting up at 4am to go to work and had a leaking flex pipe going to his muffler. (he was a good kid but had no money)

after a few weeks of this I told him I needed sleep handed him 100$ and told him to fix it.

he never fixed it, but started parking his car around the corner so I didn’t hear it anymore.
